These textile designs come out of the deep respect and love I have for Athens, Ga.
As I walk around this great city, I find that the stark geometric forms of the buildings against the exquisite clear blue sky inspires me to simplify and abstract the shapes I see – the solids, the voids, the positive and negative spaces. The sky inspires me to focus on the empty space rather than the positive – it’s what we can’t see that’s the most important – isn’t it?
It is through my relationship to historic preservationists, landscape architects, and planners that informs my understanding of space and how we move through it. I hope to share with you the beauty that I see in our every-day world that we often forget to pay attention to.
Please enjoy.
